Editing

I spent all day yesterday working on the edits for From This  Day and boy, I love this story. It has perhaps a more serious tone that These Magic Moments , but is still light, a sweet romance. Or as I like to think of it, a cosy romance. I also spent most of the time editing from my bed. Yes, you read that right. Not a desk but the bed. Once I started, I just didn't want to change the spot since I was on such a roll. Even better, I had no reason to even leave the house. No meetings, no shopping, no dramas, no other work, no appointments, just me, copious tea and coffee (and visits to the loo), a few chats with whoever of the family was around, and  then breaking off to think about what to make for tea. What a perfect writing day it was. ~ Maddie.

A twit and a book

Image
I am nursing a slightly bruised knee after I tripped while on a walk. The stupidity of it was that it was in a park, around a very wide track, and there was hardly anyone else around, but I sort of tripped on the edge and sprawled on to the grass. To curb embarrassment in case I had been spotted, I leapt (sort of) to my feet, brushed myself off and finished the walk with dodgy knee and a bit of a scrape on the hand. What gets me was that I was on a concrete path with no ruts or anything, a perfectly good path for running and cycling. What a twit. That's all I can say. Twit!! I suspect I was off in lala land at the time. I'm not sure what else can explain it. Just walking too close to the edge and ending up inelegantly on hands and knees. Currently reading: The Storm Sister by Lucinda Riley. I  haven't read the first one and in fact only happened upon this in a charity shop, even though I'd heard about the series. Well! I am currently hooked on this book and once my writ...

Good times

I've been getting outdoors a bit lately, going on long walks.  Fitness. Freedom. And fun. Actually, my sister and I had great ideas to do some super long walks but it never eventuated. However over the past few weeks while she was staying with us, we did a lot of walking. We drove around a lot, explored beaches, parks and places nearby I hadn't been to before. It was great fun. I guess I'm a little bit fitter after some of the treks we managed, but as we know, you have to use it. Or you will sure as heck lose it! And right now the last thing I want to do is go out and walk, even around the block. Lazy Easter Weekend!  Writing update: From This Day is making sturdy progress. I hope to finish it this week and have it up for sale by the end of April. I am hopeless with broken routines, and barely got any writing done the weeks the sister was with us, but I hadn't seen her in ages so it was brilliant fun. Plus we went out to eat a lot. Brunches, lunches, and a few dinners. ...

DVD love

Image
First up, I've been delighted with the ratings coming in for  These Magic Moments .  They're up to thirty and averaging four and a bit stars. I am so relieved that readers are liking the story enough to rate and even review. You just never know if it will hit a chord or not. I sent out my newsletter today and I mentioned the movie, Murder on the Orient Express . Here's the cover of the DVD, the actual DVD I found in a charity shop. While I do subscribe to a couple of streaming services and love them, I still love collecting DVDs of movies I want to see more than once. One of my kids reckoned there was no point when you could watch movies on Netflix. But I don't trust anything. What if Netflix goes down, I said. What if we lost internet access? More to the point, movies don't stay there forever, they often go to a different service, and then what? Plus  I rather like seeing the DVDs on the shelf, like books, and browsing through them when I feel like a movie to watch...
