To travel or not to travel

I had my sister visiting recently which has been great.

Naturally we ate out quite a bit, and we visited a few places, went for lots of walks in nature, as she likes walking and I walk for the health benefits. But we talked a lot about our respective families, and also about travel.

She is a massive traveller. As in traveling the world. When she was in her twenties, she did an African safari, one of those four months ones when you're trekking through the jungle with a guide. She said the most amazing experience of her life happened on that safari, which was getting up close to the gorillas in the jungle. All these years later she has kept in touch with the group who went on that safari and they all got together for a reunion, around a dozen of them, before she flew up to stay with us.

It got me thinking about travelling because I never have. Never really had the desire to. Part of it is the cost, part of it is just I find it a bit overwhelming planning a trip in my own country let alone heading overseas! But I got thinking after she flew back and I even went on a few travel websites and thought...,what if I could go away for two weeks somewhere, anywhere really, screw the cost, just find a trip, get leave from my day job, the passport is all up to date, and I should just do it.

Knowing me I won't, but then, maybe I will.

Maybe I will!
