no news september nearing the end

 

It is nearing the end of 'No News September' and I have to say, I have missed… nothing. I have missed absolutely nothing!

In fact, when I occasionally jump on to a news website, (to see what the headlines are and I have done this maybe six times?), well, I just can’t be bothered reading anymore, I don't even scroll down, and I promptly exit.

At home, I have been around when there has been news on the TV when someone is watching it but really, I don’t take much notice.

The news is indeed a business, news outlets are in competition with each other and that’s all it is. May 'No News' reign.

However. Having said that.... 

There will quite possibly be one exception to all this ‘no news’ business.

When a certain election comes around in November, I predict I will be sitting there watching the results come in. We may even have two tellys going, cluttering up the lounge, because it's always interesting to see how the different networks interpret things. It is fair to say the odds are that will be the situation. I note that it is being held on Tuesday November 5, (I had to look that up) so there will be a time difference but I think I have watched the US elections, well, for over 20 years.

Or maybe I won’t watch this 2024 election. Who knows…

Whether I do or I don't, the upshot is that I think it is very fair to say that I do not miss the news at all, I do not miss thinking about the news after some horrific event, I do not miss hearing the news or reading the news. What is the news anyway?

Reading the series

 I've been reading the earlier Gabardi books just to make sure all the details are correct for the current book.  Things such as timelines, and character details and so on. It has been quite fun doing it, too, and I am inspired to get the Gabardi books and the Bluebell Road books into print. As for The Gabardi Memoir , it has been sent out and I am expecting it back shortly, and then the plan is to work on the last bit of the plan, which is the proofing for typos etc.  I am still looking at an early February release, even though February is only ONE WEEK AWAY!!

The end of the ham

 I made a pea and ham soup yesterday and it was the most divine thing. We are big "ham for Boxing Day and beyond" people. It lasts for weeks. Weeks of sandwiches and if one is low carb-ish, ham and other things. So yummy. But it was at the end ie we'd eaten most of it, so I chucked it in a pot with onion, and split peas, stock and seasoning, parsley and a few random vegetables It was very yummy. We made bread in the breadmaker to go with it, a focaccia with olive oil and herbs Again, so yummy. And that is the end of the ham for another year.
