Update One on 'no news september'

"no news september" is coming along well. I am resisting the temptation, which isn't much of a temptation now, to look up the news websites to read the headlines. 

The first week of 'no news november' is going well.


It has been interesting though, not knowing the news.

I was out with a friend the other day and she commented on the murder in the neighbouring suburb. I had no idea! 

I got to work yesterday to find there had been a delay on the trains coming into the city during rush hour because some people had been electrocuted on the train tracks. Terrible news, and I had no idea.

Then I got home today and was told there was a murder, but in another area of town from the first murder. Around that time we heard a helicopter overhead so I looked up the news website to see that yes, there had been a gunman, people were injured, and a person is dead. Geez.

I have to say so far, no news september is going okay and I do not miss the news and especially the terrible news above, and I have only googled important things, like the price of butter at two supermarkets.

Reading the series

 I've been reading the earlier Gabardi books just to make sure all the details are correct for the current book.  Things such as timelines, and character details and so on. It has been quite fun doing it, too, and I am inspired to get the Gabardi books and the Bluebell Road books into print. As for The Gabardi Memoir , it has been sent out and I am expecting it back shortly, and then the plan is to work on the last bit of the plan, which is the proofing for typos etc.  I am still looking at an early February release, even though February is only ONE WEEK AWAY!!

The end of the ham

 I made a pea and ham soup yesterday and it was the most divine thing. We are big "ham for Boxing Day and beyond" people. It lasts for weeks. Weeks of sandwiches and if one is low carb-ish, ham and other things. So yummy. But it was at the end ie we'd eaten most of it, so I chucked it in a pot with onion, and split peas, stock and seasoning, parsley and a few random vegetables It was very yummy. We made bread in the breadmaker to go with it, a focaccia with olive oil and herbs Again, so yummy. And that is the end of the ham for another year.
